Memory Game
my idea is to create a memory game that can improve memory, i came up with this idea due to the high number of cases of dementia.By 2015 there will be 850,000 people with dementia in the Uk according to the Alzheimer's Society.
(2014). Dementia 2014 report statistics. Available: https://www.alzheimers.org.uk/statistics. Last accessed 5th oct 2016.
It didn't want to create a memory game for dementia patient as i did similar project last year and don't want ti risk going to dementia related project because i don't want to fall foul of self plagiarism.
i want to broaden my target audience so i am creating a memory game for everyone to use to help keep a good memory or improve your memory.
everyone associates memory issues with the older generation but according to the guardian "The researchers from Durham University surveyed more than 3,000 primary school children of all ages and found that 10% of them suffer from poor working memory, which seriously impedes their learning."
Lipsett,A. (2008). Many struggling pupils suffer from poor memory - report. Available: https://www.theguardian.com/education/2008/feb/28/schools.uk. Last accessed 5th Oct.
Therefore i want to create a game that can be tailored to all ages or that could be made easier to different abilities.
I want to focus on four key areas of the memory:
- Semantic - Instructions
- Declarative - recalling facts
- short term memory/ immediate memory - remembering a list of objects.
- visual memory - recognising objects
